Celaya-Hernandez Named SEC Male Diver of the Week

BATON ROUGE – LSU diver Juan Celaya-Hernandez has been named SEC Male Diver of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the 11th time Celaya-Hernandez has been awarded SEC Diver of the Week in his career, and second time this season.

Celaya-Hernandez notched three top-two finishes this week at the Texas Diving Invitational. He won the one-meter springboard by over 55 points with a score of 423.00. It was his second win of the season on one-meter. He brought home second place finishes on three-meter and platform. He dove to a score of 467.55 on three-meter and 466.05 on platform.

“Juan’s performance over the course of the Texas Diving Invitational was exceptional on all three levels,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “Due to training for the Tokyo Olympics, we have not done a great deal of training on one-meter and platform so for him to excel on those levels is a good confidence booster.”

Celeya-Hernandez and the Tiger divers will be back in action November 14 as Tulane will take on the Tigers from inside the LSU Natatorium.
