Tigers Have Successful Prelims at the Art Adamson and Texas Diving Invitationals

TEXAS – LSU Swimming & Diving sent a host of athletes to the finals of their respective invitationals on Thursday morning. At the Art Adamson, 29 swimmers qualified for the ‘A’ and ‘B Finals. At the Texas Diving Invitational, five Tiger divers will dive in the nightcap. Finals for both events will begin at 6 p.m. CT from College Station and Austin, Texas.

Art Adamson Invitational

The morning kicked off with the 400-Yard IM where Jessica Pryne qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing seventh with a time of 4:20.70. Jolee Liles finished in tenth place, qualifying for the ‘B’ Final with a time of 4:29.25

On the men’s side, David Boylan and Isak Vikstrom both qualified for the ‘B’ Final. Boylan finished in fourth place with a time of 3:55.71 and Vikstrom finished in sixth place with a time of 3:56.36. Brian McGroarty finished in 12th place, to qualify for the ‘B’ Final, with a time of 4:04.18.

In the women’s 100-Yard Butterfly, Olivia Taylor earned a spot in the ‘A’ Final after finishing in eighth place with a time of 54.31. Brittany Thompson and Cassie Kalisz both qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in tenth and 13th place with times of 55.74 and 57.00.

Over on the men’s side, Emil Hassling finished fifth in the prelim with a time of 49.23 to earn a swim in the ‘A’ Final tonight. James Henderson, Miguel Valsquez, and Michael Foley all qualified for the ‘B’ Final. Henderson finished in ninth place with a time of 49.94, Velasquez in 14th place with a time of 51.33, and Foley in 15th place with a time of 51.39.

In the Women’s 200-Yard Freestyle, four Tigers qualified for the ‘A’ Final. Katarina Milutinovich, Summer Stanfield, and Hannah Bellina notched second, third, and fourth place finishes with times of 1:46.95, 1:48.57, and 1:49.02.. Kit Hanley finished in eight place with a time of 1:51.09. 

For the men, Brooks Curry finished in second place to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. His time of 1:36.34 comes a day after winning the 50-Yard Freestyle. Mason Nyboer and Brian McGroarty both qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in 11th and 13th place with times of 1:41.09 and 1:41.66.

Next up, in the Women’s 100-Yard Breaststroke, Emilie Boll finished in third place to earn an ‘A’ Final swim after touching the wall in 1:01.02, which propels her to eighth all-time in LSU history. Jadyn Jannasch also earned a swim in the ‘A’ Final with an eighth place finish and a time of 1:02.76. Allie McDaid and Emily Pye qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in ninth and 11th with times of 1:03.87 and 1:04.28.

For the men, Luca Pfyffer and Mitchell Mason earned ‘A’ Final swims after finishing in sixth and seventh place with times of 54.54 and 54.56. Hassling, Jeff Snoddy, and Jack Jannasch finished in ninth, tenth, and 11th to earn “B’ Final swims. 

To round out the morning in the 100-Yard Backstroke, Milutinovich once again qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in second place with a time of 53.83. Thompson and Alyssa Helak also qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in fifth and sixth place with a time of 55.43 and 55.67. Sydney Roycraft, Kalisz, Sarah-Grace Thompson, Katie Smith, and Johannah Cangelosi all qualified for the ‘B’ Final.

On the men’s side, Henderson and Velasquez qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in third and seventh place with times of 48.79 and 49.95. Foley qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in ninth place with a time of 51.71.

Texas Diving Invitational

On Men’s One-Meter, Juan Celaya-Hernandez finished second in the prelim with a score of 390.08. Manny Vazquez Bas and Dakota Hurbis finished in fifth and sixth place with scores of 316.43 and 276.15. All three Tigers will dive in tonight’s final.

For the women, Anne and qualified for tonight’s final on the Three-Meter Springboard. Anne Tuxen finished in third place with a score of 323.45 and finished in sixth place with a score of 277.20.
