Baton Rouge, La. – Tinaya Alexander and Taylor Dobles were recognized for their performances at the SEC Soccer Tournament by Top Drawer Soccer on Tuesday morning. Alexander was named to the Team of the Week, while Dobles earned honorable mention honors.
Alexander had two goals and an assist in LSU’s two wins at the SEC Tournament. She assisted on Dobles’ goal in the 13th minute on Friday night in LSU’s 2-0 win over Alabama in the first round. It was her 14th career assist in an LSU uniform. She followed that up with a two-goal performance on Sunday against No. 14 Ole Miss to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 victory.
Her first goal of the match came in the 32nd minute when she grabbed possession from an Ole Miss defender and took the ball into the 18. She disposed of another Ole Miss defender before knocking the ball in with her left foot from 12 yards out. The redshirt junior notched the gamewinner in the 100th minute of the match with a golden goal in the first overtime session. Alexander scored the goal with 12 seconds left after she knocked home a perfectly placed ground cross from Meghan Johnson inside the six.
Dobles registered her first career collegiate brace on Friday night to help LSU pick up it’s first win of the season versus Alabama. She scored goals in the 13th and 88th minutes. The first one came off a loose ball in the box after Alexander’s shot was blocked. Her second goal of the game came late in the match and served as the dagger. Courtney Henderson played Dobles into the left side of the box and Dobles’ shot from a tight angle beat Alabama’s keeper to give LSU the 2-0 win.
