Humphries Wins the 101st Louisiana Amateur Championship

Baton Rouge, La. – Former LSU men’s golfer John Humphries won the 101st edition of the Louisiana Amateur Championship on Sunday (June 14) at Bayou Oaks at City Park in New Orleans. Humphries finished the four-day tournament with a score of 9-under 279 (70-72-70-67) for medalist honors.

He’s the fifth player in the history of the event and first since 1968 to win at leas three Louisiana Amateur Championships. His three wins have come in 2003 (Southern Trace Country Club), 2019 (Baton Rouge Country Club), and 2020 (Bayou Oaks). He is the eighth player all-time to win back-to-back Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championships.

Incoming freshman Nicholas Arcement, who will be a member of the 2020-21 LSU squad, finished in a tie for fifth at 5-under 283 (72-69-71-71). A rising junior at LSU, Hayden White finished in a tie for 28th at 5-over 293.
