Annie Jung and Arthur Price Named to the SEC Community Service Team
Jung, a junior from Brusly, La., totaled 54 hours of community service this academic year and earned her degree from LSU in May. Fifty of her hours were spent volunteering at Our Lady of Mercy church in Baton Rouge where she was an assistant coach in the ‘Girl on the Run’ program. The program taught young girls self confidence and encouraged a healthy lifestyle; at the end of the program all of the girls Jung coached completed a 5k run. She also prepared meals for the homeless at Lod Cook, and participated in Born With Angel Wings (Dec. 1) and LSU’s annual Halloween Boozar on Oct. 27.
Price, a fifth-year senior from Baton Rouge, spent his time volunteering with Louisiana’s Youth Challenge Program in Baton Rouge. The YCP is an alternative educational program that offers adolescents an opportunity to change their future and has various guests come and speak each week. In his time volunteering with the YCP, Price encouraged students to have self discipline, leadership, and responsibility.
Earlier this year, I had the chance to speak with the great young men of the Louisiana YC Program.
A great experience hearing stories and being able to tell my own.
