Barber Tied for Sixth After 5-Under 66

Cabo, Mexico – LSU sophomore Garrett Barber fired a 5-under 66 on Monday at the Cabo Collegiate to move into a tie for sixth place.

Live Scoring

Barber started the round on No. 14 and began with a bogey, but he quickly rectified that by going par, birdie, birdie on the next three holes to get to 1-under for the round. He parred No. 18 before moving to the front nine. Barber absolutely blistered the front nine to the tune of a 5-under 31 that featured five birdies and four pars. He went back to the back nine after No. 9 and went par, par, par, bogey to close out his 5-under 66, the second-best round of his LSU career. The 5-under 66 was the second best score of the day on the course and it moved Barber up 19 spots.

“I hit my driver really well today,” Barber said after his round. “I think I hit it the best I’ve hit it in a long time and then just hit a few close ones and made a few putts. I missed a couple kind of coming in and made a bogey on my final hole which is a little frustrating, but overall it was a solid round.”

Chris Woollam (T50th) and Trey Winstead (79th) carded 3-over 74s, Philip Barbaree (76th) shot a 6-over 77, and Michael Sanders (72nd) had a 8-over 79. The third and final round of the Cabo Collegiate will begin on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT.
