Tigers Sweep Missouri, 4-0

BATON ROUGE – In the battle of the Tigers at the LSU Tennis Complex on Sunday, March 1, the LSU women’s tennis team came out on top after sweeping Missouri 4-0.

With the win, LSU moves to 9-2 in the dual season and 2-0 in the SEC.

Selling Points

Probably one of our better matches from start to finish today,” co-head coach Julia Sell said. I thought we did a good job coming from indoor play on Friday to a windy and colder outside play today. We had great energy in doubles and it continued into singles. We’ll enjoy today and tomorrow it’s back to work.”

Doubles Results

Junior Eden Richardson and freshman Nina Geissler were the first off the courts at the No. 1 doubles after defeating the duo of Gabrielle Goldin and Serena Nash 6-1 to earn their seventh win of the dual season.

LSU clinched the doubles point at the No. 3, where the freshmen team of Safiya Carrington and Maggie Cubitt held off a late charge from Marta Oliveira and Viven Abraham to get the win by a score of 6-3.

Singles Results

Richardson gave LSU a 2-0 lead and earned her ninth win of the dual season at the No. 3 singles, where she defeated Vivien Abraham in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1

At the No. 5, senior Paris Corley extended the lead to 3-0 after a strong straight set win, 6-2, 6-0. The win is Corley’s seventeenth of the overall season, a team-high.
