March 2020 - Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes of the Month

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA) recognizes six student-athletes for their scholastic and community achievements each month. Student-athletes are chosen based on their commitment to academic success and for their devotion to volunteerism and service to the community.

Here are the March 2020 CCASA’s staff Student-Athletes of the Month:

• Aliyah Andrews, Sr., Softball, Oldsmar, Florida (Major: Sport Administration Commerce)

Nominator – Academic Advisor Carole Walker: “Aliyah did very well academically during the Fall semester and graduated in three and a half years in December. She has made the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year as well as the 3.0 Honor Roll every semester after her freshman year.”

• Zach Arnold, Fr., Baseball, Temecula, California (Major: Sport Administration)

Nominator – Assistant Director Taylor Dennehy: “Zach always has a positive attitude. Despite an injury early in the Fall semester, he did not let it bring down his attitude or his classwork. He earned a great grade point average and a spot on the Dean’s List his first semester.”

• Jackson Martingayle, Fr., Men’s Track & Field, Virginia Beach, Virginia (Major: Natural Resource Ecology & Management)

Nominator – Academic Advisor John Parham: “Jackson earned the highest semester grade point average of all of the incoming freshman during the Fall semester, a great example to his peers.

• Julia Palin, So., Women’s Track & Field, Norton, Massachusetts (Major: Mass Communication)

Nominator – Academic Advisor John Parham: “Julia takes great pride in being successful in her races and in her academic career.

• Kamryn Ryan, Fr., Gymnastics, Luling, Louisiana (Major: Kinesiology)

Nominator – Assistant Director Taylor Dennehy: “Kamryn has done a great job with her first semester of college. She always strives to do her best and will always ask for help. • Latanna Stone, Fr., Women’s Golf, Riverview, Florida (Major: Sport Administration)

Nominator – Assistant Director Taylor Dennehy: “Latanna works extremely hard for her academics. She pushed herself during the Fall and earned one of the top grade point averages on the team while balancing her course work and heavy competition schedule in her first semester.”

Accountability – Commitment – Success – Integrity – Diversity – Teamwork – Service – Education

It is through living the values of the Total Team Commitment 2017-2022, particularly education, academic success, and service to the community that six student-athletes are recognized as Cox Communications Academic Center Student-Athlete of the month. These values are fundamental to the growth and development of our student-athletes as they enter to learn, then leave to serve.

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square-foot facility comprised of teams for academic affairs, student affairs and information technology, who annually serve more than 500 student-athletes. The purpose of the CCACSA is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation, and life beyond.
