Tigers Qualify Six For Saturday Night Finals

Auburn, Ala. – The LSU Swimming and Diving Team qualified six for Saturday night finals during another successful prelims session of school record-breaking swims and personal best times. The Tigers will be looking to podium tonight and score major points for their teams as finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT from inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on the campus of Auburn University.

200-Yard Backstroke 

For the women, Cassie Kalisz qualified for the C-Final touching 24th overall with a time of 1:56.18. Summer Stanfield finished 33rd with a time of 1:57.79. Ellie Baldwin touched the wall 34th with a time of 1:58.40. Alyssa Helak and Alexandria Ham finished 37th and 38th with times of 1:58.93 and 1:59.05. Brittany Thompson touched 43rd overall with a time of 2:00.47.

On the men’s side, Matt Klotz qualified for the C-Final, finishing 19th overall with a time of 1:44.10. Miguel Velasquez touched the wall 29th with a time of 1:45.73. Karl Luht finished 34th with a time of 1:47.76.

100-Yard Freestyle

On the women’s side, Katarina Milutinovich qualified for the C-Final with a time of 49.18 to finish 19th overall. Olivia Taylor touched the wall 37th overall with a time of 49.95. Natalie Kucsan and Grace Horton finished 44th and 51st overall with times of 50.37 and 50.91. Emily Van De Wiele and Kit Hanley touched 55th and 56th with times of 51.34 and 51.52.

For the men, Brooks Curry won the prelim with a school record-breaking time of 42.02. Lewis Clough finished 32nd overall with a time of 43.86. Michael Petro touched the wall 50th with a time of 44.62. Jack Jannasch finished 55th overall with a time of 44.91. Trent Schachter and Tommy Spradley finished 57th and 61st with times of 42.25 and 45.66.

200-Yard Breaststroke

For the women, Niamh Robinson finished eighth overall, qualifying for the A-Final with a time 2:08.92. Olivia Paskulin and Allie McDaid touched the wall 36th and 38th with times of 2:17.15 and 2:18.05. 

On the men’s side, Luca Pfyffer finished 10th overall, qualifying for the B-Final. His time of 1:56.05 is the second fastest 200-Yard Breaststroke in LSU history. Cameron Karkoska finished 20th overall with a time of 1:57.54 to qualify for the C-Final. Jeffrey Snoddy touched the wall 31st with a time of 2:00.67. Brian McGroatry finished 36th overall with a time of 2:08.10.

Women’s Platform

Aimee Wilson just missed out on qualifying for the final, by finishing in 10th place with a score of 245.25. Anne Tuxen dove to a score of 238.40 to finish in 12th place and Hayley Montague finished in 25th place with a score of 167.85.
