BATON ROUGE — LSU freshmen Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone of the women’s golf team were recently listed in the 2020 Spring Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings. Lindblad ranked second for the International team, and Stone ranked 19th for the USA squad.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university and college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players. The tournament, which began in 1997, continues to take place at some of the world’s greatest courses.
The 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club became the only major tournament and features men and women playing side-by-side as partners. The United States leads the series 12-9-1.
The top six golfers from the final ranking in the Spring of 2020 will be among the 24 individuals selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup. Longtime partner Rolex is continuing its 50-year relationship through its support of the matches which will be hosted by Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland on July 3-5, 2020.
Using Golfstat’s NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes along with a strength of schedule component.
Three committee selections will be announced March 4 during the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. The next ranking will be announced on March 5. For more information, go to arnoldpalmercup.com.
