Tigers Qualify 13 for Friday Night Finals at SEC’s

Auburn, Ala. – The LSU Swimming and Diving Team qualified 12? for Friday night finals during a successful prelims session filled with LSU top-time swims and personal bests. The Tigers will be looking to bring home major points for their teams tonight as finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on the campus of Auburn University.

200-Yard Butterfly 

For the women, Nicole Rozier touched the wall 17th with a time of 1:58.99.  Summer Stanfield finished 18th with a career best time of 1:59.13. Helen Grossman touched 20th with a time of 1:59.26. All three women will be competing in tonight’s C-Final. Jolee Liles finished 38th with a time of 2:05.34.

On the men’s side, Lewis Clough swam a career best time of 1:46.09. Qualifying for the C-Final, he has moved up to eighth on the LSU all-time list. Ben Hooper finished 29th with a career best time of 1:47.09, swimming the ninth fastest 200-Yard Fly in LSU history. David Boylan touched the wall 30th with a personal best time of 1:47.39. Trent Schachter, Michael Petro and Julian Norman each swam personal bests, finishing in 33rd, 35th and 39th with times of 1:48.41, 1:49.11 and 1:49.84.

100-Yard Backstroke

On the women’s side, Katarina Milutinovich qualified for the C-Final with a time of 53.63, finishing 24th. Milutinovich now has the fifth fastest 100-Yard Back in LSU history. Cassie Kalisz touched the wall 29th with a time of 54.10. Ellie Baldwin, Brittany Thompson, Grace Horton and Alyssa Helak finished 40th, 41st, 42nd and 43rd with times of 54.94, 55.07, 55.15, and 55.22. Emily Van De Wiele and Alexandria Ham finished 45th and 47th with times of 55.57 and 55.95.  

For the men, Karl Luht touched the wall 3rd overall, qualifying for tonight’s A-Final. Matt Klotz qualified for the B-Final finishing 12th with his time of 47.04. Miguel Velasquez qualified for the C-Final with a time of 47.68, touching 20th overall and moving to No. 8 on the all-time list.

100-Yard Breaststroke

For the women, Niamh Robinson qualified for the A-Final finishing 8th overall with a time of 1:00.21. Robinson now holds the fifth fastest 100-Yard Breast time in LSU history. Olivia Paskulin touched 19th, qualifying for the C-Final with a time of 1:01.29. Allie McDaid finished 38th, swimming a time of 1:03.40. 

On the men’s side, Luca Pfyffer qualified for the B-Final with a time of 53.31, a personal best that moves him to third on the LSU all-time list. Cameron Karkoska will be swimming in tonight’s C-Final, finishing 18th overall. His time of 53.61 is now the fifth fastest 100-Yard Breaststroke in LSU history. Jeffrey Snoddy and Jack Jannasch touched 29th and 30th with times of 55.12 and 55.49.

Men’s Platform

Manny Vazquez Bas qualified for the men’s platform final by finishing in fifth place in the prelim with a score of 347.80. Dakota Hurbis dove to a score of 263.60 to finish in 14th place.
