Curry Breaks School Record, Tigers Qualify Four for Finals

Auburn, Ala. – The LSU Swimming and Diving team qualified four for Wednesday night finals, during a prelim session that included top-times and a school record. Finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on the campus of Auburn Invitational.

500-Yard Freestyle

In the women’s 500-Yard Freestyle, Lexi Daniels placed 27th overall with a career best time of 4:48.61 moving her to fifth on the all-time list. Kit Hanley and Alyssa Helak touched the wall 48th and 49th with times of 4:56.72 and 4:56.99. Jolee Liles finished 53rd overall with a time of 5:01.06.

For the men, Isak Vikstrom finished 30th overall with a personal best time of 4:24.18. Vikstrom, a freshman, now holds the fifth best 500-Yard Freestyle time in LSU history. Keagan Finley swam a personal best time of 4:25.33 finishing 34th, putting him eighth on the All Time list. Brian McGroarty and Julian Norman finished 41st and 46th both swimming personal best times of 4:30.39 and 4:33.33.

200-Yard IM

For the women, Nicole Rozier touched the wall 23rd with a time of 1:59.35 to qualify for the C-Final.  Niamh Robinson swam a 1:59.96 putting her in 28th place. Brittany Thompson and Olivia Paskulin both tied for 40th with a time of 2:02.11. Allie McDaid finished 59th overall with her time of 2:06.54.

On the men’s side, Cameron Karkoska swam a career best time of 1:47.47 finishing 32nd and moved up to six on the all-time list. Luca Pfyffer finished 36th overall with a time of 1:48.66. David Boylan swam a personal best time of 1:48.90 finishing 39th.  

50-Yard Free

After swimming a 22.59, Olivia Taylor was forced to swim-off for the 24th spot in the C-Final. The freshman touched the wall in a 22.44 to finish first in the swim-off and swim in the C-Final tonight. Her time of 22.44 propelled her to fifth on the all-time list. Grace Horton and Natalie Kucsan finished 43rd and 46th with times of 23.21 and 23.25. Helen Grossman finished 50th with a time of 23.35. 

For the men, Brooks Curry finished sixth overall with his school record breaking time of 19.41, securing his spot in the A-Final.  Matthew Klotz touched the wall in a 19.77, placing 24th and qualifying for the C-Final. Jack Jannasch finished 35thoverall with his career best time of 20.08. Jeffrey Snoddy and Thomas Spradley both swam personal best times of 20.87 and 20.89 finishing 54th and 55th.

Men’s One-Meter Springboard

On the boards, Manny Vazquez Bas finished in 11th place with a score of 304.30. Dakota Hurbis finished in 13th place with a score of 297.65.
