Bannister Heads to USA Volleyball National Team Tryouts

BATON ROUGE – LSU volleyball junior Taylor Bannister is gearing up for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team Tryouts that are taking place February 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bannister is one of 214 athletes from 94 colleges trying out. She is one of 24 right side hitters competing for a spot.

Each athlete will have one tryout session on Friday, one morning and one afternoon session on Saturday and one morning session on Sunday. Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and the U.S. Women’s National Team staff will lead the tryout process.

Bannister is a two-time AVCA All-American, who reach 1,000 kills in 2019. She led the team this last fall with 438 kills, averaging 4.29 per game. She hit .257 and tallied 147 digs, averaging 1.44 per match.

The Tigers are currently in the offseason, making the most of their opportunity to get better in the gym and weight room. A spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
