LSU And Lindblad Finish 2nd At IJGA Invitational

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The No. 18 LSU women’s golf team earned its fifth Top-3 finish of the season with a second-place finish at the IJGA Collegiate Invitational. The Tigers shot 6-under 858 as a team over 54 holes, the 11th-best team score in LSU history and the second-best team score this season.

Tiger rookie Ingrid Lindblad finished in second place with a 9-under 207 for the three rounds. It is her fourth Top-5 finish of the season.

Host Virginia shot 5-under on the last nine holes to pass LSU and win the tournament.

Sophomore Alden Wallace shot a 2-under 70 in the final round, while Lindblad and junior Kendall Griffin shot 1-under 71. Freshman Latanna Stone provided the final score at 2-over 74.

For the tournament, Wallace picked up her third Top-25 finish of the season in a tie for 17th place, while Griffin also earned her third Top-25 finish in a tie for 21st place.

LSU returns to action on February 29 at the Florida State Match-Up held at the Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City, Florida.

Tournament Notes

* In the first round, Lindblad became the first Tiger to shoot 6-under or lower since Caroline Nistrup shot a 6-under 66 in the first round of The Alamo Invitational on October 26, 2014. The round ranks fourth on the LSU all-time list, tying with Nistrup, Megan McChrystal (October 2010), and twice with Austin Ernst’s two rounds in the 2011 NCAA Championship tournament.

* LSU’s second round of 284 ranks tied for 24th on the Tigers’ all-time team single round scoring list.

* LSU’s final 54-hole score of 858 ranks 11th on the all-time list.
