Tigers Qualify Eight for Friday Finals at Auburn Invitational

AUBURN, ALA. – The LSU Swimming Team completed their first prelims session of the Auburn Invitational resulting in eight Tigers qualifying for finals tonight.  Swimming season and career best times, the Tigers have set themselves up for a weekend of fast swimming. 

The Tigers will be back in action tonight at 5:30 p.m. CT to take part in Friday’s Finals.


500-Yard Freestyle 

For the women, Kylie Bennett qualified for the ‘A’ Final swimming a career best time of 4:59.22 to finish third. Johannah Cangelosi swam a 5:04.01 to finish in ninth place and qualify for the ‘B’ Final. On the men’s side, Braden Nyboer swam a career best of 4:32.88, finishing eighth and qualifying for the ‘A’ Final.

200-Yard IM

Maddie Clifton finished in third place with a time of 2:03.36 to qualify for the ‘A’ Final.  Emily Pye finished ninth and qualified for the ‘B’ Final after swimming a career best with a time of 2:07.44.  Abigail Baumgartner finished 16th with a time of 2:16.21 qualifying her for the ‘B’ Final. Isabella Buttaci just missed out on advancing to the final after finishing in 18th place with a time of 2:17.78.

50-Yard Freestyle 

On the women’s side, Katie Smith finished 12th with a time of 23.91 earning a spot in the ‘B’ Final. Ellen Pack missed making the ‘C’ final by one spot as she finished in 17th place with a time of 24.36. Thomas Roark touched the wall fourth with a time of 20.69 qualifying for the ‘A’ Final.
