Marshall Earns SEC Athlete of the Week Honors
Baton Rouge, La. – Tonea Marshall was named the SEC Women’s Runner of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office. She garners this award after being named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week on Tuesday morning.
Marshall ran a career-best time of 7.86 in the 60 meter hurdles at the Corky Classic on Saturday. The time of 7.86 made her the third-fastest 60 meter hurdler in NCAA history, it set the LSU school record, and is a 2020 world lead. She broke Jasmin Stowers’ school record of 7.94 that was run back in 2014.
This marks the first time in Marshall’s career to be named an SEC Athlete of the Week during the indoor season.
