Three Tigers Finish Inside Top-Nine on Final Day of Tennessee Diving Invitational
KNOXVILLE, TENN. – LSU divers Anne Tuxen, Hayley Montague, and Dakota Hurbis all earned top-nine finishes on platform as the Tennessee Diving Invitational came to a close after three days of competition. The Tigers will be back on the boards on Thursday, January 9 as LSU welcomes Missouri to Baton Rouge.
Tuxen dove to a score of 250.15 to finish in third place. This is the second straight competition Tuxen has earned the bronze on platform as she did so two weeks ago at the Auburn Diving Invitational. Montague finished in eighth place as the freshman dove to a score of 227.90. Her score of 227.90 ranks as the second best score on platform in her young career.
On the men’s side, Hurbis dove to a score of 271.90 to finish in ninth place. His performance makes it three straight meets Hurbis finished in the top-nine on platform as he finished in fourth place at the Art Adamson Invitational and in ninth place at the Auburn Invitational.
“Overall I am very happy with the day and the overall performance at the Tennessee Diving Invitational,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “It has been a great start of 2020 and exactly what we needed to do moving into this part of the championship season. We had very little preparation and training after Christmas break and for Hayley and Anne to be in contention to win the platform was exciting on the last day.”
