Diving Heads to Knoxville for Tennessee Diving Invitational

BATON ROUGE – The LSU diving team will hit the boards for the first time in 2020 as they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to take part in the Tennessee Diving Invitational. The invitational will begin on Friday, January 3 and will end on Sunday, January 5.

LAST TIME OUT

Last time out at the Auburn Diving Invitational, the Tigers put up a very strong showing against divers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Missouri, and Tennessee. For the women, Anne Tuxen claimed the bronze on platform after diving to a score of 254.50. She finished in 10th and 15th place on the one and three-meter springboard with scores of 256.25 and 265.20.

Hayley Montague secured two top-seven finishes with her performances on the one-meter springboard as well as three-meter.. On one-meter, Montague finished in seventh place with a score of 272.20. On three-meter, Montague finished in fifth place with a score of 309.40. The freshman finished in 10th place with a score of 216.55 on platform.

For the men, Manny Vazquez Bas finished inside the top-five in every event including a win on platform with a score of 387.40 – his second win on platform this season. On one-meter, Vazquez Bas scored a 329.05 to finish in third place and finished in fifth place on three-meter with a score of 362.60.

Dakota Hurbis finished inside the top-11 in all three events in Auburn. He finished in seventh place on one-meter with a score of 290.95. He dove to a score of 275.50 on platform to finish in ninth place. He rounded up the trip of top-11 finishes with an 11th place finish on three-meter with a score of 294.45.

THE FIELD

Tuxen, Montague, Vazquez Bas, and Hurbis will face off against a loaded field in Knoxville. They will face divers from Tennessee, Iowa State, East Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina State, Alabama, Minnesota, SMU, Princeton, and Arkansas.
