Women’s Golfer Hedlund Among Fall 2019 Graduates

BATON ROUGE, La. – Former LSU women’s golfer Marina Hedlund was among the 1,900 members of the LSU Class of 2019 who participated in the historic 300th commencement ceremony conducted by the University on Friday.

Hedlund is a graduate of the E.J. Ourso College of Business with a degree in marketing. The native of Leksand, Sweden, was a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers and wrapped up her career in the Spring of 2019. Hedlund competed in 14 events over her LSU career and was a team leader.

“I only had the pleasure of coaching Marina for one year, but saw her on the range three years prior when I was with the men’s team,” said LSU head coach Garrett Runion. “I can honestly say that she is one of the hardest working players we have ever had come through LSU. It’s also impossible to be around her for more than a couple of minutes and not smile or laugh. Marina is extremely determined and one that I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for her.”

Hedlund was awarded the LSU student-athlete stole on Thursday night at the Fall 2019 Tribute ceremony. The stole is presented to all graduating LSU student-athletes to commemorate all that they accomplished during their careers as a student and an athlete. The pin at the bottom of the stole is the first mark of a student-athlete becoming an L Club member and a Tiger for life.
