AUBURN, ALA. – Manny Vazquez Bas and Dakota Hurbis finished in third and seventh place in the one-meter final with scores of 329.05 and 290.95 on the second day of the Auburn Diving Invitational. Hayley Montague and Anne Tuxen finished in fifth and 15th place in the three-meter final with scores of 309.40 and 265.20. The invitational will continue through Thursday of this week, and close the Tigers’ 2019 half of the season.
Vazquez Bas dove to a score of 328.65 in the prelims to qualify for the finals. His finals score of 329.05 set a new career best to this point of his young collegiate career. Hurbis dove to a score of 272.30 in the prelims to reach the finals. Montague dove to a score of 284.00 and Tuxen dove to a score 286.70 in the prelims to reach the finals.
“The stand out performances today were Hayley and Manny,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “Hayley posted two very good performances on three-meter and showed great consistency. Manny was contending to win the event and faltered on his last dive. All in all, these were great experiences for this time of the year.”
