Mukes Named to SEC Community Service Team

BATON ROUGE – Senior outside hitter Sydney Mukes has been selected to the SEC Volleyball Community Service team for 2019, the league announced Wednesday morning.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Mukes has led the Tigers in community service this season, helping with numerous projects around the community and getting involved with many organizations.

She has volunteered her time to help paint houses with MLK Walls Painting, participated with middle school students in their PE classes at Glasgow Middle School, read books to a class of second graders with Read Across America and has helped with the local Miracle League many times throughout the year.

Mukes has also been involved with LA Key Academy’s Youth Field Day, Night to Shine (a prom night put on by the Tim Tebow Foundation for people with special needs), Pawdi Gras, DG Fan Day, Thank-A-Thon and has taught volleyball skill throughout the community with LSU and the YMCA.
