CCACSA Names October 2019 Student-Athletes of the Month

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA) recognizes several athletes for their scholastic and community achievements each month. Student-athletes are chosen based on their commitment to academic success and for their devotion to volunteerism and service to the community.

Here are the October 2019 CCASA’s staff Student-Athletes of the month:

Damone Clark, So., Football, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Major: Sport Administration)

Nominator – Manager of Student Learning Carli Faulkner: “Damone is always doing the little things right. He strives for greatness academically and athletically. He is the perfect example of a student-athlete.”

Nina Geissler, Fr., Women’s Tennis, Rorschach, Switzerland (Major: Business)

Nominator – Academic Advisor Delanie Authement: “Nina has been an absolute rock star since arriving on campus. She has made the transition to college about as well as any freshman. Nina gives maximum effort in everything that she does whether it is tutoring, class, or prepartion for exams or big projects. Her positive attitude and desire to succeed will continue to take her to new heights.”

Kyle Montgomery, Sr., Men’s Cross Country, Metairie, Louisiana (Major: Accounting)

Nominator – Academic Advisor John Parham: “Kyle has performed well in the classroom throughout his academic career. While still an undergrad, Kyle has completed an internship that has led to a full-time position after he graduates from LSU.”

Maddie Moreau, Fr., Soccer, Youngsville, Louisiana (Major: Biology)

Nominator – Senior Associate Director Carole Walker: “Maddie is a starter for the soccer team this season. She is not only competing at the highest level on the field, but in the classroom as well.”

Brittany Thompson, So., Women’s Swimming & Diving, Austin, Texas (Major: Marketing)

Nominator – Academic Advisor Delanie Authement: “Brittany has performed extremely well academically this semester. She is going above and beyond what is expected of her. She has a positive mindset that is rubbing off on her peers.”

It is through living the values of the Total Team Commitment 2017-2022, particularly education, academic success, and service to the community that six student-athletes are recognized as Cox Communications Academic Center Student-Athlete of the month. These values are fundamental to the growth and development of our student-athletes as they enter to learn, then leave to serve.

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square-foot facility comprised of teams for academic affairs, student affairs and information technology, who annually serve more than 500 student-athletes. The purpose of the CCACSA is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation, and life beyond.
