Ten Former Tigers Attempt to Advance in Q School Qualifying
Baton Rouge, La. – Ten former golfers with ties to the LSU men’s golf program will tee it up at the second stage of Q School qualifying for the Korn Ferry Tour over the next two weeks at four different tournament locations.
The first former Tiger in action will be Myles Lewis at the TPC Craig Ranch qualifier in McKinney, Texas. He will tee off on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and play through Friday, Nov. 1. The other nine golfers with LSU ties will all play next week.
The largest contingent of Tigers will be present at the Plantation Preserve GC in Plantation, Fla., that will take place Nov. 5-8. Stewart Jolly, Luis Gagne, Curtis Thompson, Nathan Jeansonne, and Eric Ricard will all five tee it up there beginning next Tuesday.
Brandon Pierce and Jacob Bergeron will tee it up at the Highland Oaks GC (Dothan, Ala.) in hopes of advancing to the final site of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying; their tournament will run Nov. 5-8. Zach Wright and Landon Lyons are the final two to be playing a qualifying tournament; they will play the Bear Creek Golf Club (Nov. 5-8) in Murrieta, Calif. Wright played on the Korn Ferry Tour during the 2019 season and finished 91st overall after an amazing 2018 season on the Mackenzie Tour. Wright had three top-20 finishes on the KFT in 2019, and they all came in the month of July.
The top 138 players plus ties from the five second stage sites will have the opportunity to compete in the final qualifying stage for the Korn Ferry Tour; that tournament will take place Dec. 12-15 at the Orange County National Golf Course in Winter Garden, Fla. All players who advance to the finals site will receive status for the 2020 season on the Korn Ferry Tour. Depending on where you finish at the final site, golfers can earn conditional to fully exempt status.
