Men's Golf T3 at Tavistock Collegiate Invitational
Winstead finished with a 2-under 70 and White recorded a 1-under 71 to help lead LSU to a 1-under 287 team score in the first round of the tournament. The Tigers sit tied for third following the first round. Central Florida leads the field with an 8-under 280. Florida is in second with a 3-under. LSU and California are both at 1-under.
Winstead tied his career high with 16 pars in the first day of the Tavistock. He used birdies on hole No. 13 and No. 6 to finish the round with a 2-under 70. He sits tied for seventh on the leaderboard following the first round. The last time Winstead amassed 16 pars was in 2017 during the second round of the Tavistock Invitational. He also finished that round with a 2-under 70.
White finished the first round with a 1-under 71. He carded six birdies throughout the round to help offset five bogeys. The six birdies are the second-most of his career at LSU. In the second round of the David Toms Intercollegiate, White amassed seven birdies. White sits tied for 12th on the leaderboard heading into round two of the Tavistock.
Philip Barbaree recorded a 1-over 73 in the first round. He finished his round with five birdies, six bogeys and seven pars.
Garrett Barber also registered a 1-over 73. He carded three birdies in his round to go with four bogeys and 11 pars.
Michael Sanders finished the day with a 2-over 74. Through his first nine holes, he recorded three bogeys to go along with a birdie and five pars. He then went on to card nine-straight pars to end his round.
The second round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational continues Monday at 7 a.m. CT.
