LSU Finishes Regular Season at Arturo Barrios Invitational
College Station, Texas. – The LSU men’s and women’s cross country squads traveled to College Station, Texas to finish their regular season at the 2019 Arturo Barrios Invitational at the Watts XC Course. The men got the day started by running the 8k and the women followed them with the 6k competition. The men’s team finished in 14th place out of 27 teams with 343 points. The women’s squad finished in 15th place with 476 points.
“Katy-Ann (McDonald) ran a phenomenal race and is really learning how to race cross country at a high level,” said LSU head coach Houston Franks. “She races with a lot of courage and toughness. Eric (Coston) also had a great day. He just keeps getting better and better each race. Overall, we had almost everyone improve a lot of their times from last year and that is a positive, but I think we have a lot more to give.
“We have a lot of people whose fitness has gone to the next level, but we need the confidence and belief to race at the next level. Championship races are coming next, so we need to work on a few things to be ready.”
