Tigers to Begin Play at ITA Southern Regional
BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s tennis team will begin play in the 2019 ITA Women’s Southern Regional hosted at the LSU Tennis Complex at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, October 18.
Each day will begin with doubles play and be followed by singles. A tournament page with formats and draws is available at www.LSUsports.net/ITAregional.
“We are thrilled to be playing regionals on our home courts and get some much needed match play in against the best competition in our region,” co-head coach Michael Sell said. “We have continued to improve with each tournament and training week. We have a team full of Tigers who love to compete and we can’t wait to begin.”
Senior Paris Corley leads the Tigers in singles wins so far this season with seven. Corley has earned multiple ranked wins, including wins against No. 21 Oleksandra Korashvili in Milwaukee and No. 13 Marta Gonzalez at the ITA All-American Championships.
Junior Eden Richardson sits at 99 career wins in the Purple and Gold, one win away from the century mark.
Three Tigers are ranked in the 2019-20 ITA/Oracle Preseason Rankings. In singles, Richardson checks in at No. 11 while junior Taylor Bridges ranks No. 114. In doubles, the duo of Richardson and freshman Safiya Carrington are ranked at No. 37.
