Corley Victorious in Main Draw First Round

Tulsa, Okla. – LSU women’s tennis team senior Paris Corley advanced to the second round of the singles competition at the ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday, October 9, at the Case Tennis Center.

Due to weather, doubles matches were postponed to tomorrow, October 10.

Singles Results

The No. 11-ranked junior Eden Richardson faced Duke’s Chloe Beck in the first round of singles. A competitive first round saw Beck able to hold Richardson off, winning by a score of 6-4. Beck held her ground in the second set, winning 6-3 and advancing to the second round of competition.

Corley’s first round opponent was No. 13 Marta Gonzalez from Georgia. Corley came out the gates strongly, taking the first set by a score of 6-2. The second set was a closer contest between the two players. Gonzalez’s surge fell short, however, as Corley was able to win the set 6-4 to take the match in straight sets and advance to the next round.
