Barbaree Cards 5th Career Bogey-Free Round at Maui Jim
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Philip Barbaree recorded his fifth career bogey-free round Saturday as he shot a four-under 66 in the second round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Course. Overall, the 15th-ranked LSU men’s golf team finished the day at par and is in 12th place with a one-under 559 total score.
Barbaree opened his round from hole No. 1 and carded four straight pars before he birdied hole five. His scorecard also featured birdies on holes nine, 12 and 13 to go along with pars on all the other holes. The last time Barbaree carded a bogey-free round was the second round of the Valspar Invitational in 2018. Barbaree is now tied for 11th at 6-under.
Garrett Barber finished the day at par after opening his round with a bogey and two double bogies. Barber bounced back to birdie hole eight and then carded four birdies on the back nine to finish the day even.
Trey Winstead‘s scorecard featured five birdies, three bogies and a double bogey as he finished the round at one-over par. Michael Sanders and Chris Woollam both finished at three-over for the round. In the Mea Lanakila individual tournament, Hayden White shot a 4-over 76 to put him tied for 26th.
LSU will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT Sunday alongside Illinois and NC State from hole 10 to start the final round of the tournament. Sanders will go off first, followed by Winstead, Barber, Woollam and Barbaree in 10-minute intervals.
