Fowles Plays In 2019 WNBA All-Star Game On Saturday

BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s basketball legend Sylvia Fowles will be playing in her sixth WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 27 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The 16th WNBA All-Star Game will be televised live by ABC at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Fowles is in her 11th season in the WNBA and her fifth with the Minnesota Lynx. She will be a reserve on Team Wilson for Saturday’s matchup. The WNBA has moved to a draft system for the All-Star Game, selected by the team captains. Fowles was selected by team captain A’ja Wilson and they will face the team captained by Elena Delle Donne.

On July 14 Fowles became the league’s career leader in double-doubles with 14 points and 13 rebounds against Phoenix for the 158th of her career, passing WNBA legend Lisa Leslie. Fowles continues to grow the lead, picking up her 159th double-double right before the All-Star Break with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Washington on July 24. She is also fourth in league history with 3,225 career rebounds.

Fowles, the 2017 WNBA Most Valuable Player and two-time WNBA Finals MVP, is averaging 14.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season for the Lynx. Minnesota is currently 10-10 at the mid-season break.
