CAIRNS, AUSTRALIA — Sylvia Fowles, a sophomore on LSU’s women’s basketball team, scored eight points in 14 minutes to help the 2006 United States women’s senior national team to a 83-63 victory over host Australia in spring training exhibition play on Saturday.
Fowles was 2-4 from the floor and 4-4 from the free throw line before leaving the game in the third quarter with a dislocated right shoulder. No other information on the injury is available at time of publication.
The Opals World Challenge moves to Canberra, where Team USA will play China again on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. CDT, followed by a 3 a.m. CDT tip-off against Chinese Taipei on April 11, and the tournament concludes with the second USA-Australia clash on April 12 5 a.m. CDT.
Seimone Augustus, former Lady Tigers’ star and the first pick of the 2006 WNBA draft, is expected to see action in Team USA’s next game on Sunday night.
