Dominican Republic – Luis Gagne used rounds of 72 and 70 to make the cut at the 2019 Latin America Amateur Championship on Thursday and Friday at the Teeth of the Dog course hosted at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.
Gagne sits in a tie for eighth place at 2-under par (72-70-142). His pace after 36 holes has him five strokes behind the leader, Juan Cayro Delgado, who has a two-round total of 7-under par 137 (69-68).
Gagne’s even par opening round 72 on Thursday consisted of two birdies, 14 pars and two bogeys. Friday’s second round of 2-under par 70 got off to a hot start with him birdieing the first two holes of the day, No. 10 and No. 11, a pair of par 4s as he started his round on the back nine. He bogeyed No. 13 and closed out his first nine holes in 35 strokes. He started his second nine holes of the day off with four straight pars before he sandwiched a pair of birdies on No. 5 and No. 7 around a par on No. 6. He then bogeyed No. 8 before closing out his round with a par on the par four ninth.
Gagne will tee off at 6:51 a.m. CT on Saturday alongside Jorge Garcia and Jorge Villar for round three. TV coverage for the final two rounds of play will air from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday on ESPN2.
