No. 5 Gymnastics Hosts No. 3 Florida Friday Night

BATON ROUGE – The fifth-ranked LSU gymnastics team (1-1, 0-1 SEC) hosts No. 3 Florida (1-0, 1-0 SEC) in what is expected to be a standing-room only, sellout crowd on Friday night inside the Maravich Center.

The Tigers and Gators will meet on the SEC Network for the night cap of the first Friday Night Heights tripleheader. Bart Conner (play-by-play) and Kathy Johnson-Clarke (analyst) will have the call. Introductions for the meet begin at 7:40 p.m. CT with first vault set for 8:05 p.m.

Breaux Previews SEC Showdown
“It is always an exciting meet and competition when LSU and Florida face off,” head coach D-D Breaux said. “We are going to have an incredible crowd that I know is excited and will bring great energy. This is a really good opportunity for our team to face a great team in an incredible environment.”

Finnegan is One of Nation’s Top All-Around Performers
Sarah Finnegan, the reigning SEC Gymnast of the Year, is one of the top performers in the country in the all-around. Finnegan was named the gymnast of the week by the league after the first week. The senior has more than 180 routines under her belt and owns 52 individual titles for ninth in school history.

LSU-Florida History
Florida leads the all-time series between the two schools, 70-40, with the Tigers owning a 16-10 record against the Gators inside the Maravich Center. LSU has won the last four regular-season meetings between the schools. In the last 13 meetings, the Tigers have beaten the Gators 10 times. At least one team has been ranked in the top-5 in every meeting and it’s the 21st consecutive meeting that both teams are ranked in the top-10.

Arrive Early
The match up is expected to draw record crowds as two of the best teams in the Southeastern Conference face each other. All fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid long lines. Intros for the meet begin at 7:40 p.m. and first vault is set for 8:05 p.m.
