Wright Earns Guaranteed Starts on Web.com Tour in 2019

Chandler, Ariz. – Former LSU men’s golfer Zach Wright secured guaranteed starts on the Web.com Tour for the 2019 season over the weekend at the Web.com’s version of Q school in Arizona at the Whirlwind Golf Club.

Wright rattled off rounds of 71-65-66-67 to finish the tournament with a 19-under par 269 to tie for 25th place. The top 40 plus ties earned guaranteed starts in 2019. It wasn’t always smooth cruising though for Wright as he found himself on the outside looking in on the final nine holes of the tournament.

Outside the top 40 with six holes left to play on Sunday, Wright used birdies on five of his last six holes including the last four to move himself inside the guaranteed line. Starting his round on No. 10, Wright had two birdies, five pars and two bogeys on his first nine holes of the final round. He made the turn and proceeded to par the first three holes before he closed with his birdie-palooza.

Wright carded 28 birdies during the four-day tournament to rank as the fourth most in the field of 135 players. His 1.603 putts per green in regulation average ranked as the seventh best in the tournament. With his 25th-place finish, Wright has now secured a minimum of eight starts on the Web.com Tour in 2019.

Up next for Wright will be the Go Vacaciones Cozumel Cup. It is the third annual Tour vs. Tour event which pits the top Mackenzie Tour players against the top PGA TOUR Latinoamerica players. The tournament will run from December 13-15 at the Cozumel Country Club in Cozumel, Mexico. For more information about the event, you can visit pgatour.com.
