Barber Fires 1-Under 71 in PGA Tour Debut

Saint Simons Island, GA. – On the first day the RSM Classic, LSU freshman golfer Garrett Barber shot a 71 (-1) to finish round one tied for 45th place.  Barber went off the 10th hole on the Plantation Course on Thursday morning.

Barber started his day with a bunch of fours, eight to be exact within his first nine holes. He parred the first five holes of his round before he bogeyed the par 3 15th. He then proceeded to birdie holes No. 16 and No. 18, both par 5s, to go out with a tally of 1-under 35.

His final nine holes consisted of steady play and he registered one birdie, seven pars and one bogey to finish his first-career PGA Tour round. His birdie on the final nine holes came on the par 3 7th.

Sam Burns shot a 2-over 72 on the par 70 Seaside Course and is in a tie for 109th.

Friday will see Barber and Burns switch courses and will also feature later tee times for the two.  Burns will tee off at 10:20 a.m. CT on the first hole of the Plantation Course.  Barber will tee off on hole number one of the Seaside Course at 10:30 a.m. CT.
