Tigers Retain No. 1 Spot in USTFCCCA Rankings

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU women’s track and field team retained the top spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings released on Monday (May 7), and the men’s squad sits in 12th place in the final regular season rankings released before conference championships begin this weekend across the nation.

The Lady Tigers held the top spot with 324.07 points to No. 2 Oregon’s 276.19 points. Southern California (259.30), Arkansas (250.39) and Kentucky (247.23) rounded out the top five spots. The No. 12 LSU men have 134.96 points in their favor.

The Tigers will head to Knoxville, Tenn., this Friday through Sunday for the 2018 SEC Track and Field Championships. Other men’s SEC ranked teams are No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Georgia, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 13 Kentucky and No. 20 Mississippi State. Additional women’s ranked SEC teams are as follows: No. 17 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 9 Florida, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 18 Missouri and No. 23 Ole  Miss.
