BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU freshmen Jake Norris and Abby O’Donoghue earned SEC Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference office today for their winning performances in the Pac-12/Big Ten Invitational last week.
Norris, picking up his second SEC honor in two weeks, won a hammer throw title for the second week in a row with a personal-best 238’ 6” (72.70m) on March 23 in Tempe, Arizona. His efforts place him among LSU’s best with the No. 2 mark in school history, and he ranks first in the NCAA this season. Last week, Norris was the men’s freshman of the week for his record-setting throw at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette.
O’Donoghue won her second high jump title of the outdoor season with a leap of 5’ 11.25” (1.81m) on March 24. Her efforts sit No. 6 in LSU history and ranks No. 1 in the NCAA this season.
The LSU squads are at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Built By The Home Depot this week, beginning competition on Day 2 of the four-day event on March 29.
