No. 2 Gymnastics Earns NCAA Regional Berth

BATON ROUGE — The LSU gymnastics teams will make a return trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 7, as the second-seeded Tigers received an NCAA Regional berth on Monday afternoon.

LSU, regular-season and championship-meet winners in the Southeastern Conference, will square off with No. 11 Nebraska, No. 14 Oregon State, No. 19 George Washington, No. 20 NC State, and No. 31 Maryland in one of six regional meets.

“We’re excited about going back to Raleigh,” LSU Gymnastics Head Coach D-D Breaux said. “It’s a place that our kids are comfortable in, and it’s really a fabulous arena that they updated recently. We enjoyed our last time there, and I know our team is looking forward to it.”

This No. 2 overall seed for the Tigers is tied for the highest in school history. LSU was also the second seed heading into NCAA postseason competition in 2017. The NCAA Regional berth is the 34th straight and 35th overall for the program. LSU owns 17 regional titles and is trying to extend its streak to seven straight.

As the top seed of regional, LSU will rotate: floor, vault, bye, bars, beam.

The meet will begin at 3:06 p.m. CT inside Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh and streamed on ESPN3.com. Tickets can be purchased at gopack.com, and seating for the meet will be general admission.

On March 9, LSU scored a 197.575 in a road victory over NC State at Reynolds Coliseum. The top-two schools at each of six NCAA Regional sites will advance to the NCAA Semifinals on Friday, April 20 in St. Louis. The Super Six finals will be held Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. CT.
