BATON ROUGE – Sahvanna Jaquish of LSU and Mikayla Brown of Northwestern State were the honorees selected for their play as Louisiana softball players of the week announced on Tuesday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Jaquish earned hitting honors as the Tigers won four games as he drove in eight runs over four games, including a season high five in the opener against Mississippi State.
Brown shut out McNeese 1-0 for the Demons softball team to earn pitcher of the week honors, giving up just two hits and striking out five in the win.

Led the team in hits, average and RBIs, helping LSU to its second-straight SEC sweep and extend the team’s winning streak to nine. Drove in eight runs over the course of the four games, including a season-high five in the opener against Mississippi State, while driving in the game-winning and only run of game two to clinch the series. Had a slugging percentage of .818 and on-base percentage of .571.

Mikayla Brown shut out the top offense in the SLC, carrying a no-hitter 5 1/3 innings. She worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and stranded a runner on 2B in the seventh. McNeese mustered two hits on the day.
