BATON ROUGE – For the second consecutive season LSU senior center Ethan Pocic earned a spot on the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced Tuesday.
The award is presented annually to the top center in Division I football.
Pocic is one of 57 players on the spring watch list.
A native of Lemont, Illinois, Pocic started all 12 games at center as a junior last season.
Pocic finished the 2015 season with a team-best 132.5 knockdown blocks, the highest total by an LSU offensive lineman since at least 2010, and he played a total of 796 snaps, second-most on the team.
Pocic earned Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week twice in 2015 with great performances at Mississippi State and against South Carolina.
A Second-Team All-SEC selection a year ago, Pocic tallied double-digit knockdowns in six games, including a career-high 18 at Ole Miss.
Pocic played an integral role in LSU’s rushing attack that ranked seventh nationally at 256.8 rushing yards per game last season.
The winner of the award will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on Jan. 14, 2017.
