Beach Volleyball Set For Palmetto Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La.-The No. 11 ranked LSU beach volleyball team (11-6) will travel to Columbia, South Carolina this weekend for the Palmetto Invitational. The Tigers will face Carson Newman and South Carolina on Saturday followed by matches against Coastal Carolina and UNC-Wilmington on Sunday.

LSU will look to rebound from last weekend after two losses to Top 10 opponents in the Green Wave Invitational.

I think that we had a really good week of practice,” said associate head coach Russell Brock. “We had some great opportunity to really assess where we were and what happened (last weekend) and kind of refocus on what our goals are and what it’s going to take to reach them. The losses were a catalyst to help us realize we have to do more and do things better. It’s an opportunity we can take advantage of and finish the season the way we know we can.”

LSU is led by Helen Boyle and Lilly Kessler who have collected 11 wins on the year at the two. No. 3 tandem Callan Molle and Cati Leak have collected six wins in 13 matches against Top 20 teams. On court four, Mandi Orellana and Riley Young won two of three matches this past weekend in the Green Wave Invitational, knocking off No. 6 Arizona and No. 18 Tulane.

The Tigers will square off against Carson Newman on Friday at 12 p.m.
