Football Coaches Clinic Starts Thursday

BATON ROUGE – NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre along with former LSU all-America Marcus Spears will be two of the headline speakers at this year’s LSU Football Coaches Clinic, which starts tomorrow on the LSU campus.

On Thursday, registration starts for the coaches at 2 p.m. at the LSU Football Operations Facility. Coaches will be able to watch the Tigers practice tomorrow afternoon followed by a barbeque social at 5:30 at the Maravich Center. Spears, a member of LSU’s 2003 national championship team and now an analyst on the SEC Network, will address the group of coaches at 7:30 at the Maravich Center.

First-year LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda will speak to the coaches following Spears at 8:30 tomorrow night.

The clinic resumes on Friday with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Maravich Center followed by clinic session one, featuring LSU strength and conditioning coordinator Tommy Moffitt at 8:45.

Favre, a native of Gulfport, Miss., and a graduate of Southern Miss, will deliver his keynote speech on Friday at 11:15 a.m. at the Maravich Center. Favre capped his career as one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, earning Associated Press Most Valuable Player Award three times, appearing in the Pro Bowl 11 times, and leading Packers to one Super Bowl title.

The cost of the clinic is $65. Coaches can register online at www.LSUcamp.com, by calling the LSU Football Office at 225.578.1151 or in person on Thursday or Friday.
