Notes on the Tigers
LSU returns to action this weekend, traveling to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens for a three-game SEC series… Georgia is the fourth team LSU has played in a row that has been ranked in the top 15 at the time of the series since opening conference play… The Tigers are 26-8 on the year and 3-6 in the SEC after defeating the Nicholls Colonels last Tuesday, before dropping three games over the weekend to No. 1 Florida in Baton Rouge… This weekend is LSU’s second true road series of the year and fourth time playing away from Tiger Park this season… The Tigers held Nicholls and Florida to a .171 hitting percentage in the four games last week, finishing tied against the two with 18 hits… The Tigers had a better fielding percentage than each of their opponents, finishing with a .971 mark to .968 for the opposition… Sandra Simmons and Amber Serrett each led LSU in batting last week, hitting .364… Amber Serrett had both of the team’s doubles last week, while Bailey Landry tied for the team high in hits and had the club’s only triple… Sydney Smith did not allow a run in 7.2 innings of work last week, pitching a seven-inning one hitter against Nicholls with four strikeouts and two walks… The LSU pitching staff struck out 25 batters in 30 innings pitched last week… Carley Hoover had 17 strikeouts, including setting a new league season high pitching best with 13 K’s in game one against the Gators… Allie Walljasper set the team season high in innings pitched with nine.
