BATON ROUGE, La. – Third-year head coach Julia Sell announced Wednesday the addition of transfer Ryann Foster to the LSU women’s tennis program.
“We believe Ryann is going to be a great addition to our program,” Sell said. She is going to add value to our lineup right off the bat. She has experience under her belt after playing a year at Texas and she is used to the pressure of college tennis. Her work ethic and attitude will have a great impact on our program.”
Foster comes from 35th-ranked Texas where she played the one and two singles and doubles positions. The Sunrise, Florida native played court two and earned the third point for the Longhorns over Texas Tech with her 6-3, 6-4 victory over Gabriela Talaba. She was also named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll at Texas.
Before attending the University of Texas, Foster won the 14 and under national championship in both singles and doubles as well as the 12 and under singles championship. Foster also boasts a career-high WTA ranking of 869.
“I chose LSU because I felt like I was 100 percent with the coaching staff,” Foster said. “I feel like it is a place where I can thrive as a person and improve athletically. I have professional goals and I believe those goals are attainable in Baton Rouge.”
Foster joins blue chip recruit Jessica Golovin in the fourth recruiting class under Sell. Golovin received a recruiting ranking as high as No. 13 nationally. LSU was ranked 25th in the January women’s recruiting ranking by tennisrecruiting.net and looks to move up with the addition of Foster.
