Simmons to Play for High School National Title

NEW YORK – LSU men’s basketball signee Ben Simmons posted a double double as Montverde Academy was able to hold off Findlay Prep of Nevada, 57-53, in overtime Friday in the semifinal round of the National High School Tournament in New York City.

Montverde advances for a try at a third straight national championship in a game to be played at Madison Square Garden at 11 a.m. on ESPN.

Simmons had 24 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in the contest in which Montverde struggled from the three-point arc and the free throw line. The Florida academy trailed by one in the final minute, but after two missed free throws, Montverde was able to get a bucket to force overtime.
