Justin Hamilton Honored on 2014 Development League Teams

All four of LSU’s players in the 2014 NBA Playoffs have advanced to the conference semifinal round.

Miami Heat center Justin Hamilton was selected a first teamer on the 2014 All-NBA Development League and All-NBA Development League Defensive teams on May 1 for his play with the Heat D-League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Hamilton, a 2014 NBA D-League All-Star, started 37 games for the Skyforce and averaged 19.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.03 blocks, 1.5 assists and 35.8 minutes while shooting 49.1 percent from the field.

Throughout the 2013-14 season, LSUsports.net will update its “Tigers in the NBA” page. Five former Tigers currently hold spots on NBA rosters. The players include Brandon Bass (Boston Celtics), Glen Davis (Orlando Magic), Anthony Randolph (Denver Nuggets), Garrett Temple (Washington Wizards) and Marcus Thornton (Sacramento Kings).

Bass, the 2005 SEC Player of the Year, is playing his ninth overall season in the league and third with the Boston Celtics. He secured 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season. He scored his 4,000th career point against Miami on April 12 and recorded his 2,000th career rebound versus Chicago on Feb. 13. Bass has spent time with New Orleans, Dallas and Orlando during his career and was traded to Boston prior to the 2011-12 campaign for another former Tiger and 2006 SEC Player of the Year, Davis.

Davis is in his seventh year in the NBA, third with Orlando. He racked up 15.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season which were all career-highs before suffering a foot injury in late January that ended his season. Davis started his career playing four seasons with the Boston Celtics where he won the 2008 NBA title.

Randolph is playing his sixth NBA season as a member of the Denver Nuggets. He played in 39 games last season and averaged 3.7 points to go along with 2.4 rebounds per game. His previous stops include the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Temple agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards in July after he played in 51 games last season following a series of 10-day contracts. He posted 5.1 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds over his 22.7 minutes per game. Temple’s previous NBA experience includes time with Charlotte, Houston, Miami, Milwaukee, Sacramento and San Antonio.

Thornton is in his fifth season in the NBA. He played his first two-plus seasons with the New Orleans Hornets before being traded during the middle of the 2010-11 campaign to the Sacramento Kings. The 2009 SEC Player of the Year has totaled 3,958 career points and averaged in double figures in each of his first four seasons.

Justin Hamilton (Miami Heat) and Chris Johnson (Minnesota Timberwolves) played in NBA preseason games but didn’t make their teams’ opening day rosters. Ronald Dupree is playing for Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli Basketball Super League.
