BATON ROUGE – The LSU athletics program finished No. 24 in the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Division I Final Standings announced on Friday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Tigers accumulated 833.75 points once several spring sports concluded, including track and field, baseball and softball, along with men’s and women’s golf and tennis.

Stanford won the Directors’ Cup with 1,482 points with Florida in second as the top rated SEC team with 1,216.50. Texas A&M was the other SEC team in the top 10 with 1,022 points.

LSU received 50 points each for its finish in baseball and softball, 25 points in women’s tennis and 15 points in women’s golf. The Tigers’ third-place finish in men’s golf earned 82.5 points, while a fourth place men’s track and field finish earned 77.5 points, with the Lady Tigers in track and field earning 73.5 points for the team’s sixth place finish.

LSU earned 111.50 points in the fall sports, 348.75 in the winter sports and 373.50 in the spring.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
