Sagstrom Earns Golfweek All-America Mention

BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s golf Madelene Sagstrom, who earned her first collegiate victory this past season, has been named an honorable mention All-America selection by Golfweek Magazine for the 2013-14 season.

Sagstrom led the team in stroke average at 73.28 for 29 rounds as LSU advanced to the NCAA Regional round in the post-season for the 20th time in the last 22 years. Sagstrom won the Schooner Classic in the fall and then lost in a playoff for the championship in the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. The Swedish junior posted a 3-under 213 for the 54-holes on the home University Club.

Sagstrom had 14 rounds of par or under during the season and has posted 40 rounds in that category in her LSU career. She has posted remarkably consistent stroke averages of 73.56, 73.59 and 73.28 over 92 career rounds for a stroke average of 73.48, the third best career stroke average in LSU women’s golf history.

Sagstrom earned first team All-SEC honors for the second straight year from the league coaches.
