Dean Koubek Named BASF Professor of Excellence

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes has selected Dean Richard Koubek for the 2014 BASF Professor of Excellence Award.

He was recognized during the LSU-Alabama baseball game this past Saturday.

“It is an honor to recognize Dean Koubek as the 2014 BASF Professor of Excellence recipient,” said Kenneth O. Miles, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Cox Communications Center. “He exhibits both the spirit of education and spirit of scholarship in action. LSU is very fortunate to have such a distinguished faculty member who is truly committed to transforming lives locally and globally. We in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes are very proud of him and his accomplishments.”

Dr. Koubek came to LSU in 2009 and is the holder of the Bert S. Turner Chair in engineering. Dr. Koubek is very involved with research, technical engineering journals and has given invited presentations across the globe. He has served as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation, NASA and the Office of Naval Research.
