Dear Tiger Fan,
There are so many time-honored traditions that have thrived throughout the glorious history of LSU Football … White Jerseys … “H-Style” Goal Posts … the Pregame March down Victory Hill.
The tradition most cherished by all Fighting Tiger fans, however, is SATURDAY NIGHT in Tiger Stadium.
It’s important for you to know that during the SEC future football scheduling process and development of the SEC Network, I initiated conversations with SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, who in turn worked with CBS and ESPN, to discuss LSU’s long-standing tradition of playing home football games in Tiger Stadium at night.
Through these conversations there has developed an understanding that CBS, ESPN and all its platforms will recognize the importance of LSU home night games in their scheduling process with assurances that every effort will be made to maximize the number of LSU home games at night. For example, CBS has agreed to limit the number of games played in their afternoon window. And I can assure you that the SEC Network will enhance LSU’s tradition of playing games at night in Tiger Stadium.
We sincerely appreciate Commissioner Slive and the SEC for recognizing the importance of night games to the LSU football program and to all of you who so passionately support the Tigers. Night games in Tiger Stadium are a long-standing tradition of our culture. We are extremely excited that the league recognizes this unique tradition.
I look forward to seeing you in Tiger Stadium this fall … when the sun goes down!
As always, we welcome your comments at athletics@lsu.edu. Unfortunately we cannot answer every e-mail we receive, but please be assured they are all read.
Geaux Tigers!
