Notes on the Tigers
LSU enters the weekend 20-15 on the season and 2-7 in SEC play. LSU hosts No. 2 Tennessee for a three-game conference series this weekend at Tiger Park at 6 p.m./6 p.m./12 p.m. LSU is 25th in the RPI and has played the fifth-toughest schedule in the country. Tennesses is the second team to come to Tiger Park in the last three weeks ranked in the top two in the country. LSU snapped a five-game losing streak with a 14-1 win over the ULM Warhawks in six innings on Tuesday night in Monroe. The win in Monroe snapped a five-game road losing streak. LSU tied a season high in runs and is the third time this season that the Tigers have scored that many in a contest. LSU had 11 hits and is the first time having more than 10 since March 1 against Lamar. The Tigers have produced double-digit hits four times in the last ten games. The Tigers are 3-0 against Louisiana teams so far this year. The Tigers have scored double-digit runs seven times this year and is undefeated when scoring 10 runs or more in a game. LSU has either tied or outhit the opponent in seven of the last 10 games. LSU hit two home runs against the Warhawks, the first time the team has hit multiple home runs in a game since March 14. The Tigers sent 17 batters to the plate in the 11-run fourth inning against ULM. Seven different batters earned at least one hit with four earning two against the Warhawks. Kailey McCasland hit her first home run of the season and first since the 2012 season, hitting the team’s third grand slam of the season. Allison Falcon hit her sixth home run of the season and earned her tenth two-hit game of the season. Sandra Simmons has earned two hits in each of the last three games and has nine games with at least two in a game this season. Tammy Wray drove in a season-high two RBI and matched her season high in hits with two against ULM. Jacee Blades had two hits for the first time since Feb. 28 against Harvard. Baylee Corbello became the first pitcher to reach 10 wins on the year after holding ULM to two hits in three innings with no runs scored. Corbello threw just 44 pitches against ULM. Kelsee Selman pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on no hits with four strikeouts. Selman struck out the side in the final inning to secure the win.
